Tomato Festival Soap ~ A Tribute to Summer and Farmers!

July 31, 2013
Handcrafted Soap made with tomato and parsley powder

Handcrafted Soap swirled with tomato powder/Moroccan red clay and parsley powder/French green clay.  It is scented lightly with sweet orange, bergamot, coriander and ginger essential oils.  Very fresh uplifting scent!

This is my latest soap adventure!   It’s a celebration of summer and our local farmers-nature’s bounty and fresh sunshine!  This soap will make its debut at our Tomato Festival at the  Harrisonburg, VA Farmers Market  Saturday, August 10,  9AM to 12PM.

My Tomato Festival Soap is a cleansing bar of soap swirled with tomato with a little Moroccan clay and parsley enhanced with a tad bit of  French green clay.  I purchased the tomatoes and parsley from my fellow vendors who grow sustainably, no pesticides and without chemical fertilizers.  Most of all, I know these guys and gals and I’m helping support local families and not some CEO’s island paradise.

The soap also has premium ingredients like sustainable organic palm oil from Brazil, olive oil, organic palm kernel oil, colloidal oatmeal, jojoba oil and kaolin white clay.  The scent is made from sweet orange, bergamot, ginger and coriander essential oils.  It’s a lovely light citrus scent.

Now, I will have to say, our namesake, Magellan never had soap like this, but you can bet he was familiar with outdoor markets.  It was the heart of a community then and making a comeback in today’s world.   As vendors we get to know our customer’s wishes and they in turn, see the passion with which we produce our products.  Try that at your local big box store!

So, for those of you that are lucky enough to purchase this bar:  remember the summer, the farmer, the community and all the local enterprises near you!

What an incredibly creative idea, and absolutely gorgeous too-it should be a big hit for the tomato festival! Char

Thanks Anne-Marie! It was a fun batch to create. The farmers at my local farmers market do a great job. I am so lucky to vend along side of them.
